Among the top values of Liberty Senior Living communities is the desire to assist residents in achieving their optimal level of health. Wellness is more than an absence of disease; rather, it is an overall sense of well-being in many dimensions of one’s health, including physical, nutritional, spiritual, social and intellectual. With a focus on enriching these areas of our residents’ dimensions of wellness, Liberty Senior Living and its retirement communities near West Palm Beach, FL embrace the INSPIRE wellness program.
Inclusive
Inclusivity is a focal point in our well-rounded program. Liberty Senior Living communities promote acceptance of all people and strive to provide a sense of belonging to all residents. Liberty Senior Living communities seek to include everyone and their personalized interests by offering a variety of skill levels to accommodate each resident. The INSPIRE program is person-centered and aims to celebrate each resident’s diverse background.
Nutritional
Dining is an important part of each resident’s life since mealtime not only provides nutrition — it is a time for gathering with friends and neighbors to connect and socialize. Many Liberty Senior Living communities offer multiple dining venues which residents can visit.
Liberty Senior Living’s dining team delivers high-quality meals with a commitment to local, seasonal, sustainable and delicious food. With our dining and wellness teams operating in sync, we are able to offer a customized, person-centered approach to providing innovative, nutritionally balanced meals that promote healthy eating.
Spiritual
It is equally important that we are attentive to our spiritual and mental health as we are to our physical health. An overall sense of well-being is dependent on physical, mental and spiritual health. The means of achieving this inner peace varies by individual, and the INSPIRE program offers a variety of methods to appeal to this dimension of wellness.
Often, residents find spiritual inspiration and solace through religious services. In partnership with local parishes, many Liberty Senior Living communities offer religious services on our campus. Additionally, non-denominational meditation classes are offered either as a part of pool or land classes or as an independent class. Meditations are often included during Yoga, Tai Chi and Balance, specifically focusing on the mind and body connection.
Physical
Fitness classes are geared towards not only maintaining and improving physical fitness but creating opportunities towards preventative programming. By offering functional training opportunities, residents may find their day-to-day life tasks easier to complete.
Wellness assessments are required before residents begin their INSPIRE career and include a 30-minute assessment where medical history is reviewed, blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen saturation are recorded, as well as the senior fitness assessment is performed. The standard Senior Fitness Assessment includes chair sit to stands, arm curls, a 2-minute step test, sit and reach, back scratch 8 ft. up and go, which assess lower extremity strength, upper extremity strength, endurance, flexibility, speed, grip strength and balance, respectively. Reassessments are conducted each year to provide an update on fitness levels and advise changes in current exercise regimen.
On-site personal training is offered for an additional charge.
Liberty Senior Living Wellness Directors create an individualized exercise plan depending on assessment/reassessment results. In addition, the Wellness Director can provide an overview of all equipment in the Fitness Studio and record seat positions/guide resistance suggestions.
Intellectual
INSPIRE offers programming that aims to improve memory, spark creativity and cultivate development of skills. Liberty Senior Living communities seek for residents to learn both new information and restore previous knowledge. Communities provide opportunities where residents can learn from one another and maintain/improve their cognitive function. Many LIberty Senior Living communities have established relationships with local universities and colleges, where residents may participate in college-level courses.
Recreational
The INSPIRE program focuses on fun and creative social activities that instill growth in residents. Through social opportunities provided by INSPIRE, residents make new friends, meet old friends and have fun. Social opportunities directly affect the overall health of individuals, decreasing risk of social isolation and loneliness. Liberty Senior Living’s recreation therapy- based approach is a focus of the INSPIRE program.
Engaging
Being engaged is more than just being present. The INSPIRE program encourages residents to be involved and immersed into our program offerings. LIberty Senior Living communities want residents to discover new things, maintain or create a new sense of purpose and develop new ideas. Many communities partner with local organizations to create volunteer opportunities to serve their local area. Residents are also given a multitude of volunteer opportunities to serve in the local community.
